Saxdor came out of a dream to create a boat that had never existed before. The innovative concept resonated with customers, boating professionals, and journalists. Year 2020, the first year of Saxdor, was a stunning success, with the shipyard taking three important awards for their first model, the Saxdor 200. We have built 200 hulls so far, and our order book is full for the year to come. We feel proud and happy about the huge interest that Saxdor boats have been enjoying.

The Saxdor headquarters are located in Helsinki, Finland. Saxdor Shipyard is our affiliate company based in Ełk, Poland. Ełk is part of the special economic zone Suwałki, known as one of the biggest shipbuilding clusters in Poland.

Our team has a total of more than 200 professionals with a wealth of experience in the yachting business, from cutting-edge technologies and engineering to ultra-modern design. Our goal is to build boats using state-of-the-art methods with the ultimate level of efficiency and quality of manufacturing. We grow quickly and constantly look for new talent.

In a very short period of time, Saxdor has built an extensive network of highly skilled dealers all over the world.

A company that shook up the boating industry

CONCEPT & DESIGN

Concept and design are the cornerstone when developing a new boat or model range. In the creation of their model lineup, Saxdor closely cooperates with J&J Design, one of the world’s most experienced design bureaus specializing on power- and sailboats. Over the last 36 years, J&J has penned bestselling models for some of the biggest and most prominent boat and yacht builders.

The firm’s creativity and passion for innovation, backed by deep knowledge accumulated over decades of experience in boatbuilding, has brought about a whole host of boats with design features and technologies that bring the ownership experience to a whole new level.

HISTORY

A true visionary, yacht designer Sakari Mattila founded four successful, award-winning boat brands before starting Saxdor: Axopar, XO-boats, Paragon, and Aquador.

Over his career, Маттила headed the design development and strategic planning for those brands, so loved by customers across the world. At the moment, he is completely focused on developing the Saxdor model range and has no connection with the brands he previously founded.

Together with Erkki Talvela, Mattila establishes XO boats in 2008

A group of private investors and key Saxdor executives became minority shareholders, and United Bankers Plc became advisors to Saxdor Yachts.

Subsidiary shipyard Saxdor Yachts started the production of Saxdor 200 in Ełk, Poland.

Further attesting to Sakari Mattila’s visionary approach to concept and design, Axopar wins a multitude of international awards and becomes the fastest-growing boat building company in Europe.

The first Axopar 28 debuts at the Helsinki International Boat Show in February 2014. Sakari, all on his own, establishes and registers Axopar Holdings Oy (Ltd) and its subsidiary Axopar Boats Oy (Ltd) in March 2014, with Sakari’s company owning 100% of Axopar shares. Three other shareholders got their equity in Axopar nine months later.

Production of Saxdor 320 GTO and GTC begins. Saxdor 320 GTC gets nominated for European Boat of the Year 2022, while Saxdor 320 GTO gets nominated for the 2022 Best of Boats award.

Start of a new era: Sakari draws the concept of Saxdor model range, with the lineup starting with the 20-foot PWC Saxdor 200.

The name of the company is made up of parts of the first and the last brands founded by Mattila: S = Sakari, AX = AXopar, DOR = AquaDOR.

Saxdor Yachts Oy (Ltd) was founded in October.

Mattila begins his new project — Axopar — together with Józef Wiszniewski, owner and founder of Slepsk shipyard. Sakari updates and modifies the Axopar concept and design, so they are ready by year 2012. The name is made up of the first letters of Sakari’s previous projects : A = Aquador, XO = XO boats, PAR = PARagon.
