Having developed the revolutionary Saxdor 320, which opened a new era in pleasure boating, Sakari Mattila, chief designer of Saxdor Yachts, put an end to the everlasting dispute among boating enthusiasts: what is better, an open boat or a hardtop? This Gordian knot was cut in one sweeping stroke — after the 320 GTO with a hard T-top, the shipyard rolled out the open-top version 320 GTR.
Passes under any bridge
First, many boating areas have as many as 320 sunny days per year, so an enclosed cabin is just not needed there. Second, there are many beautiful cities and inland waterways with lots of bridges, such as St. Petersburg, Paris, or Venice. A tall boat can have a hard time clearing the bridges there, and this is where the sleek Saxdor 320 comes in handy to those who love stylish, fast, and comfortable pleasure boats.
Seaworthy hull developed by J&J Design
Feeling the salty wind on your face at full tilt is no mere platitude. The performance characteristics of the 4-tonne Saxdor 320 GTR are nothing but impressive: with twin 300-hp Mercury outboards, the boat has a top speed of over 50 knots. Even with a single Mercury V8 engine, the top speed reaches 40 knots. For great seakeeping, handling, and maneuverability at brisk speeds, Sakari Mattila has designed a hull with a knife-sharp bow, twin steps, and a deadrise that flares out from bow to stern.
Fold-out terraces come standard
For comfortable cruising, the open cockpit has a galley fitted with a fridge, a ceramic stove, and a stainless-steel sink. Two three-seat sofas offer lots of transromation options, be it a forward-facing configuration, a comfortable dinette, or an expansive soft sunbed. The aft cockpit deck, already spacious, can be further extended through power-operated fold-out balconies that come standard with the 320 GTO.
Bow cabin and head make it a perfect weekend cruiser
Under the foredeck sunbed cushions, there are two Lewmar hatches for ventilation and extra access to the bow cabin. Brightly lit through many windows, the cabin is equipped with cabinets, a chair, and a head with a door that folds cleverly to starboard. In fact, everything about this boat is clever, fun, and cheerful.
